Pumkin Patch
JR & Amy invited us to eat out with them on Friday and then we joined them at the local Pumpkin Patch where all the kids picked out a pumpkin. Sarah can be seen rolling her's down the path! Fun night for me and Grandma!

Suzie's Teaching!

Suzie called yesterday and she has received her teaching assignment! She'll be a WONDERFUL teacher at Standley Middle School near Genesee and Governor in San Diego. (Click on the title of this post to go to the school site)
She's teaching several math classes per day, including one for math-challenged students (that would have been mine). Everything from the basics to Algebra.
We are SO proud of Suzie! A teacher! Imagine that! What a wonderful calling in life to teach children... Your Mother and I have always had the utmost respect for teachers. They work SO hard and so selflessly for the benefit of children. We couldn't be prouder that one of our children has chose to follow that career path.
BEST OF LUCK, Suzie! You will be AWESOME!!!

I encourage you to click on the title of this post above and it will take you to YouTube where you can view this 7 minute clip. While watching, ask youself if YOU are giving 100% in whatever you are trying to accomplish...

King Tut
Here is your Mother and I's favorite Steve Martin routine. The Tutankhamun Exhibition was making the rounds throughout the US at the time.

Independence Day
Your Mom and I went to JR and Amy's for the 4th of July. Joanne and Mamaw joined the gang. We had a GREAT barbecue for lunch and played Wii with everyone. What amazing technology growth we are experiencing in this age! I remember being excited about "Pong" which was an extremely basic game of a blip on the screen which was the "ball" and a line on either side of the screen that represented the paddles. You could move the "paddles" up and down to hit the ball when it came to your side of the screen. Now you can play games in virtual reality right in your living room!!!
We went to Marie Callendar's for dinner. We had a good time there except Jo didn't like the server. Seems that she was "rude". Problem is that Jo sets the bar pretty high on what a server should be with her own work in that role.
Back to JR & Amy's to watch a TON of fireworks they had purchased for the evening. Completely enjoyable time by all. JR did a "finale" with four large cans. Had to light them all at the same time, so I offered my help. We had some struggles with lighting apparatus that night. The lighters in the Feldman household were less than helpful and so JR was left with matches. Those didn't work to well either in the 15-20 mph wind. So he and I are trying to light four of these things at the same time. We each had two. He lit one of his and then one of mine. Then he went back to lighting his second while my first burned farther and farther down the wick. He lit his second and put both down and so all that was left was the one in my hand that was due to go off any second and the other that remained unlit. I uttered my first words as, "SON!" to which he started laughing, making it even more difficult to light my remaining can so I could set them both down. We finally got them lit and my first one went off AS I WAS SETTING IT DOWN!!! I saw my life flash before me but everyone else thought it was the funniest part of the evening. Hurrumph!

Suzie @ Beach Camp

I was able to make the trip to Suzie's Beach Camp this year. I had a GREAT time and enjoyed very much seeing Suzie and her friends. Although I did NOT win the card game! What was that Suzie? Uno? No, that's not right. Something where you had to get 15 of one card and 35 of another. Anyway, it was still a HOOT!
Before I left San Diego Suzie and Rene took me out to dinner for my Birthday and Father's Day. I even got PRESENTS! It was a wonderful surprise and capped off a weekend that will forever live in my memory.
Love you both!
And looking forward to next year's Beach Camp!!
